1)  Unit standard 3271: Suppress fire with hand extinguishers and fixed hose

             reels.

The course is conducted in a classroom setting (visual presentation) and also operating fire extinguishers on live fire scenarios using different extinguishers.

 Course description and requirements

Course takes approx 4 to 6 hours depending on student numbers and client requirements. The course can also be combined with Unit standard 4647 Principles of fire science

The student is required to:

  • Study the reference material prior to attending the course.

This course has two sections:

1)  Theory section:       a) Demonstrate knowledge in suppressing fire with hand

     extinguishers and fixed hose reels.

          b) Complete an assessment paper.

2)  Practical section:    a) Suppress different fire scenarios with hand extinguishers and fixed

         hose reels.

 

2)  Unit standard 4647: explain principles of fire science 

The course is conducted in a classroom setting (visual presentation).

Course takes approx 2 to 2.5 hours depending on student numbers and client requirements.  The course can also be combined with Unit standard 3271 Suppress fire with hand extinguishers and fixed hose reels.

The student is required to:

  • Study the reference material prior to attending the course.

This course has one section:

1)  Theory section:       a) Demonstrate knowledge in the principles of fire science.

          b) Complete an assessment paper.

 

3)  Extinguisher training

Provide non-unit standard fire training and assessment as required by the client on fire science and suppress fire with hand extinguishers and fixed hose reels.
